Normal Hair Loss
Don’t panic if you shed 50 to 150 hairs per day! It’s normal.
After every 2 to 6 years the follicles shed the hair and go into a resting stage for approximately 3 months, which is then followed by a new hair growth cycle.
Pattern Hair Loss
In the males this is known as Male Pattern Baldness (MPB). It is the cause of over 95% of all pattern hair loss, including baldness in men and thinning hair in women. It occurs in somewhat predictable stages, and is intensely progressive. Usually hair pattern loss initiates at a very early stage of life and its evidence grows increasingly strong with passing of years.
In the picture below, hairs on the sides and back of the scalp do not possess this genetic trait and therefore are not affected. A hair transplant from the unaffected parts will result in continuous growth when implanted to the top of the scalp.
